Elegant and timeless, with endless design possibilities, Terrazzo has proven to endure and perform for more than 500 years.   Today’s terrazzo is an environmentally friendly material with optimum durability, and low maintenance. Terrazzo can consist of marble, quartz, granite aggregate, mother-of-pearl and/or pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled glass, porcelain and mirror chips, which are mixed with cement or epoxy and polished to produce a smooth, uniformly textured surface for floors, walls, stairs, curbs, counter-tops and even ceilings.  Comprised of zero VOC materials, terrazzo exhibits little or no off-gassing over the life of the cured floor.  The non-porous finish doesn’t support microbial growth, nor allow moisture to accumulate, helping to maintain a mold-free environment with improved indoor air quality.

The National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association is available to offer support to architects, designers, artists, and specifiers as well as general contractors, construction managers, maintenance professionals and owners.   Literature, including specifications, a color palette, swatch book, reference guide, spotlight on sustainability, lifecycle and public art can be mailed to your office or viewed online.  Our Technical Advisor can answer your specific questions regarding epoxy thin-set and cement systems, including sand-cushion, bonded, monolithic, rustic, and polyacrylate.  He can advise on interior and exterior terrazzo applications, the incorporation of water-jet cut metal art and divider strips, and precast terrazzo.  Our performance-based NTMA contractor and associate members will ensure a floor of exceptional quality.

The National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association, Inc. is a full service Non-Profit Trade Association headquartered in Fredericksburg, Texas. The Association establishes national standards for all Terrazzo floor and wall systems and provides complete specifications, color plates and general information to architects and designers at no cost.
