O’Hare International Airport Terminal 5 Expansion & Renovation

Chicago, IL

Terrazzo Contractor

Menconi Terrazzo LLC Bensenville, IL

One of the world’s biggest and busiest airports, O’Hare has a long history of relying on terrazzo as a durable and resilient flooring. The 260,000 square feet of epoxy terrazzo is part of a major renovation that expanded the airport by 350,000 square feet. A clean, minimalist terrazzo design sparkles with all-sided mirror aggregate and zinc divider strips. Exuberant greetings in terrazzo-filled lettering at the entry’s welcome travelers in 29 languages. In certain zones, newly poured-in-place terrazzo was saw-cut to replicate existing precast terrazzo tiles. Staircases in precast terrazzo join the hard-wearing floor, which traces the curves of 20 terrazzo-clad columns.
