Charleston Terminal Redevelopment and Improvement

The redevelopment program of this terminal aimed to capture the essence of the city with a contemporary design. Approximately 125,000 square feet of epoxy thin-set terrazzo in five colors were installed in 30 phases. The bands throughout the concourses are accented with a railway design and a welcoming sunbeam pattern. Terrazzo was applied in some new construction areas but was primarily installed in existing structures over a combination of concrete slabs and brick pavers from the days before luggage had wheels. The airport was fully functional during renovation.
