Thurgood Marshall Middle School

This new $92 million, 181,000-square-foot project with 10,000 square feet of terrazzo was delivered five months ahead of schedule and under budget. The school district adopted the LEED Gold project’s design as a model school standard. All eight colors of three-eighths-inch epoxy incorporate a custom-blended sea glass-inspired mix of over a dozen different aggregates, complemented with heavy-top zinc divider strips. The new building’s three separate color schemes merge gracefully in the main lobby in a bright madras plaid pattern. Terrazzo was also installed on the roof of the entry vestibule in view of the upper floors.
