The Penthouse

The heart of the design of this Los Angeles penthouse apartment is the vibrant terrazzo floor. The intricate, five-color terrazzo medallion depicts an ancient Sri Lankan carved moonstone, a feature of Buddhist structures throughout history. The elaborate full-circle terrazzo moonstone installed in this project was created without divider strips. The terrazzo installer poured panels of terrazzo in-shop and waterjet cut them into shapes. The elements were laid out on the job site over a full-sized paper template, and terrazzo was then poured around the precast patterns.
