St. Ambrose Catholic Church

The renovation of this 1964 church won high ratings for its well-executed design composition. The interior is bright; the elements balanced and harmonious. The existing stained-glass windows set a high standard for a floor that could adequately honor their beauty and be equal to the space. Cast-in-place terrazzo steps span the width of the chapel to delineate the sanctuary. Subtle symbolism characterizes the design, focused on the baptismal font, in four-color terrazzo. Aggregates were distributed by hand without divider strips to form free-flowing elements.
